Meet our Artists

Thomas George

Thomas George (1918-2014) was an internationally recognized artist whose work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, the National Gallery of American Art, the Tate Gallery, and many other museums and major collections in the United States and abroad.  Thomas George has also won multiple awards.

A Dartmouth graduate, Thomas studied in New York, Paris and Florence. He had his first one-man exhibition in New York in 1951 followed by more than 50 one-man exhibitions in the United States and abroad.  From 1959 -1981 he was represented by the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York City.

Thomas was a resident of Princeton, N.J.  However, always seeking new inspiration for his work, he traveled extensively with his family throughout Europe and the Orient.  He found particular inspiration in the dramatic landscapes of Japan, China and, especially, Norway where he maintained a home and worked every summer for over 30 years.

Dan Olfe

California-based artist, Dan Olfe began creating quilts in 1997, after a career as an engineering professor, utilizing his technical background to create digital designs using a variety of 2D & 3D programs. He first started by making pieced quilts, but evolved his practice with more detailed designs that he hand-embellished with painted details; and later integrated direct printing technology to incorporate abstract designs, renders, 3D imagery, collage & digital textures into his finished works. 

Dan’s work has been exhibited in major national juried exhibitions, including Quilt National, Quilt Visions, Interpretations, Pushing the Surface, Art Quilt Elements, TECHstyle Art Biennial, The California Art Quilt Revolution; as well as travelling exhibitions sponsored by Studio Art Quilts Associates (SAQA)

Peter Glassford

Peter is a maker from the “Tex-Mex” border, and has resided and worked in Mexico for the majority of his career, principally as a furniture designer, influenced by the crafts and materials the country is well-known for, and with a backdrop of visual arts underlying his career as both a designer and an artist. 

In 2016, Peter formed The Design Factory Glassford Moncada, with his wife Isabel Moncada, a lighting designer in Guadalajara. A natural collaboration flourished as both designers focused on the traditional craft endemic to Jalisco. Glassford Moncada collaborates with talented artisans from the region, marrying their work with innovative techniques, art & technology.

Peter Glassford

Peter is a maker from the “Tex-Mex” border, and has resided and worked in Mexico for the majority of his career, principally as a furniture designer, influenced by the crafts and materials the country is well-known for, and with a backdrop of visual arts underlying his career as both a designer and an artist.

Ani Cinski 

Ani is a Germany-based artist with a focus on portrait drawing. Using charcoal and graphite, she creates works that play with light, shadow, and contrast to bring depth and life to her portraits. 

In addition to Ani’s work on paper, she is a tattoo artist at one of the world’s leading studios. After studying communication design, Ani has also led art workshops and shared her passion for creativity with others. For The Alice, she drew inspiration from exceptional women who’ve made significant contributions to social justice and equality.
